This MATTES Shaped Pad has sheepskin under the saddle seat area but the sensitive spinal area is left completely open (only the quilting from the topside is visable, but does not come in contact with the spine). Even the quilt join along the top line is a flat seam, made with a specially developed machine. This eliminates potential problems from pressure in the spine area.
The pad has also a so called front and rear trim.
All MATTES® pads are designed with a top line that follows the shape of the gullet of the saddle. With help from the POLY-FLEX® felt in the quilt, this ensures that the pad will stay snug up into the gullet of the saddle, and completely away from the spinal area, again eliminating any pressure on the spine.
